The Nigerian born afrobeats singer and songwriter Waconzy was born Obinna Anyanwu in Port Harcourt in 1983. He began making music at an early age of 16 after falling in love with Bone thugs and 2pac. While in high school, he recorded his first music with southend band. That was his first studio experience. He later started doing gigs in colleges but as a teenager, he was very shy on stage. He later overcame stage freight and quickly turned to a music force to reckon with in Owerri. Most of his early music training was from south-end, Engineer BM and Engineer Bruno. In 2005, Waconzy graduated as a B.Tech Degree holder from the Federal University of Technology Owerri. He later moved back to port harcourt and continued his music career. He was very close friends with Duncan mighty and Timaya long before they all became popular. Waconzy later studied music production with Henry harmony in Port Harcourt and he floated his music label DV8 Media in 2010. Few months later, Waconzy dropped the song that chaged everything "I Celebate" . Waconzy soon became a house hold name in Nigeria and it has since been an upward path for him. Waconzy worked with Mr Drill on the I Celebrate album which was recorded in Port Harcourt. The album was a success featuring hit songs like Too much money, Wedding day, Celebrate Remix feat Duncan Mighty,Chuku Chuku,I Celebrate Following his debut album, he released his Money Back Guarantee album and it has been an upward path since then.
