Kadija Kamara Returns With New Single ‘Alright’

Alternative Soul Singer-Songwriter Kadija Kamara marks her return to the British music landscape, after a brief hiatus, with the first taste of what to expect from her long awaited forthcoming debut album. Here’s introducing her excellent new single titled ‘Alright’, produced by Australian musician and long-time collaborator Tony Hayden (Ibibio Sound Machine).

Even though it has been three years since her last single ‘Loving From The Past’ and its accompanying B-side ‘Groovin’, KadijaKamara proves with ‘Alright’, that she has not missed a step. As we’ve come to expect, she brings her trademark fusion of 60’s and 70’s analogue sounds, and superb combination of retro soul and modern influences, to the forefront of this gloriously soulful opus.

‘Alright’ highlights a further honing of Kamara’s compelling song-writing and captivating vocals, which we first fell in love with, on her 2011 debut EP Changes. Talents which have seen the London native garner support from the likes of BBC 1XtraMTV IggySoulBounceNotion MagazineClash MusicSoul Train and BBC Introducing over the years.

Speaking about the inspiration for ‘Alright’, Kamara says, “This record is about facing your fears and obstacles, and never giving up. It is also about staying true to your heart. Acknowledging your internal wealth and not the materialistic things. It’s about holding your ground, no matter what people think or say about you”.

Sometimes the expectations of others can make you feel like you’re underachieving, but remember that you’re not in competition with anyone else but yourself. Thoughts about quitting can sometimes run through your head, but there is always a light at the other side of the tunnel. I just hope others can relate to this record”.
