Introducing up and coming Montreal Pop/R&B singer and songwriter SATYA with her highly anticipated debut single titled ‘Maybe We Should’ and its accompanying music video, directed by highly sought after award-winning Canadian video director Olivier Picard for Parce Que Films, who has previously worked with the likes of Arcade Fire, The Killers, and Half Moon Run, among others.

Co-written by Satya, JT Roach and David Brook (Charlie Puth, Jason Derulo), produced by Patrice Laflamme, composed by Oliver ‘German’ Peterhof (Zara Larsson, Fifth Harmony, Meghan Trainor), and mixed by Ghislain Brindamour (Rihanna, Lil Yachty, Lauryn Hill), ‘Maybe We Should’ is an infectious synth-heavy dance-pop offering about “a personal story of love at first sight” according to Satya. The record is held together beautifully by Satya’s warm yet commanding vocal performance, the glorious bassline and catchy chorus.

Speaking about the inspiration for the ‘Maybe We Should’ music video, Satya says, “The goal with this video for ‘Maybe We Should’ was to create a music video that represents the song story, without using nudity as a concept. Instead of being cliché and repeating themes that have been regurgitated many times over the years, I’ve decided to create a music video that would allow me to tell my story with artistic vision, and I hope people connect with it”.

Abandoned at birth in Morocco, Satya was dealt a bad hand very early on, but being adopted and brought to live in Canada may have just saved her life. She fell in love with singing and performance at a very young age, but that soon gave way to very tough school years, which saw Satya, who was bullied for the colour of her skin, go to excessive lengths to be accepted by her peers and society. Despite the love of her family, she lost her bearings, and turned to alcohol.

Battling alcoholism and its many demons, at the age of 18, Satya was lost and had no more hope in life – that marked a turning point in her life. With the help of her family, she began rehab treatment at 20 years old, and has remained sober ever since, rekindling her love and passion for music along the way. Today, her warm and emotive voice, her courageous message of hope and perseverance, and the groovy rhythms of her R&B/Pop music, reveal a strong and powerful young woman.
