Westlife's Markus Feehily: "I went hell for leather"

Former Westlife singer, Markus Feehily, has told The Daily Star's TV Extra that he threw himself into his solo project, he said:

"I really enjoyed it. I went hell for leather, got stuck in and didn't stop to think. I've learnt a lot since Westlife split up. I'm really enjoying myself.

"I don't regret Westlife ending. I think it was the right time and it felt right to be doing what I'm doing now. Westlife was the most exhilarating experience of my life but it was the right thing for us to move on."

Feehily now goes under his full name of Markus Feehily rather than 'Mark' and has launched a solo album, 'Fire'. His lead single, 'Sanctuary', was released last year.

He explained his reason to start using 'Markus' again, he said:

"I wanted to go back to my full name. Markus is my birth name. I suppose calling myself Markus is just to distinguish between Mark from Westlife and the new direction I'm taking myself in as a solo artist. It wasn't a pretentious decision"

Feehily recently completed a guest artist slot on Wet Wet Wet's Big Picture tour.
