Australian singer/songwriter Esmé will cast her new spell on August 9, 2019, with the single Ella to be available on all the streaming platforms.

Ella is born in Brooklyn in October 2018, from a magical studio session with top producers Royce Wood Junior (NAO, Jamie Woon), Twilite Tone (Kanye West, Gorillaz) and Chris Penny. Without denaturing Esmé’s background, they turned what was once a jazzy guitar and vocal demo into a modern yet soulful song. Not afraid of venturing outside of her softer sound, the artist weaved her dreamy poetry and airy tone through electronic textures and broken hip hop beats. As a result, the track named after one of her biggest inspirations mesmerizes with lushly layered vocals floating over the top of swelling synths and samples of Ella Fitzgerald. “I was always drawn to a certain kind of jazz voice growing up, Esmé reveals, a breathy sound that almost seems fragile, but it isn’t, and often reminiscent of a horn instrument, like Chet Baker. Listening to voices like Ella Fitzgerald always took me to a lighter place when I was young; this song kind of pays homage to that feeling, and to her.”

Based in Sydney, Esmé started her musical initiation copying jazz and horn players with her voice for many years before finding the confidence to open the doors of her magnetic realm for the world to listen. In 2017, she self-released her debut single Come With Me which won the attention Triple J radio, Sony 301 and MTV in her home country, who gave her the opportunity to open for Amy Shark at Australia’s first ever MTV Unplugged 2018. After the sophomore I Wonder produced by Nick Herrera (Hiatus Kaiyote), Esmé is now ready to present a full body of work following her creative two-week trip to New York last year. Her debut EP is to be expected at the end of 2019.
