'HOOPS' UK DEBUT ALBUM - RELEASED MAY 20th
Award-winning Australian quintet The Rubens have revealed the comedic video for ‘Cut Me Loose’, which premiered with Pedestrian TV. The triumphant rock gospel sound of ‘Cut Me Loose’ provides the backing for a non-stop audiovisual trip involving a huge, demented 3D baby, a dancing banana and a bikini-clad cast. Directed and featuring the Australian “electro indie party machine” SPOD, alongside fellow party-bangers The Meeting Tree, the all-star Aussie cast provide an hilarious video highlighting the perils of a tortured music video director. The song is the latest to be taken from The Rubens’ upcoming UK debut album 'Hoops', released this Friday (May 20th) through Warner Bros. Records (pre-order on iTunes here). 'Hoops' entered Australia’s ARIA Album chart at No.2 and topped the iTunes Alternative Chart with its 11-tracks of soulful blues and feel-good indie-rock anthems. The critically acclaimed, platinum-selling album was recorded in New York and produced by the Grammy Award winning David Kahne (Lana Del Rey, The Strokes) and mixed by legendary producer Michael Brauer (Coldplay). The band has also started making a big impact on the UK and have sold-out their very first London headline show at The Dome, Tufnell Park on May 26th – following a venue upgrade from Boston Music Rooms, which they sold out within an hour of tickets going on sale. The Rubens will also be playing The Great Escape Festival this weekend, and have also been announced for Dot To Dot Festival.
