NEW SINGLE

Belfast duo New Portals have revealed their enchanting new single ‘Cage’. The single premiered with The Line Of Best Fit who said, “Sonically, the duo’s instrumentation on ‘Cage’ is standard synth-pop, but it comes with a subtle twist of vocal augmentations and whacky lyricisms that bring elements of Tom Misch and Gotye to the fore. Despite the comparisons and the genre’s overcrowded space, New Portals still manage to create something bespoke.”

Another synth-pop masterpiece, it’s a blissful blend of atmospheric melodies, seamless basslines and the faultless vocal harmonies of members Mike and Ruth Aicken, bringing gorgeous emotion to the powerful lyrical sentiments.

‘Cage’ continues to highlight the duo’s unique and diverse song-writing abilities, following the previous singles ‘Stay Here Tonight’, which received support from Radio 1’s Phil Taggart and Huw Stephens, and the highly acclaimed ‘Groove Boy’ which saw the band picked out as The Guardian’s ‘New Band Of The Week’.

The Irish duo recently played a very special London live show in support of Youth Club in association with 1883 Magazine, which saw the band enlisting stunning visuals into their enthralling amalgamation of alt-pop. The experience can be caught again at Moira Calling Festival on September 10th.

Pulling elements of R&B, indie and hip hop which nod to the likes of Oh Wonder, Jamie xx and Say Lou Lou, their irresistible take on pop has seen them hotly tipped as one of the most exciting new acts emerging from Ireland.
