FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (BALTIMORE-MD) August 6, 2018 - Steampunk musical and theatrical crew Night Watch Paradox are piloting their time traveling airship to the Key City Steampunk Festival on August 17, 2018. Captain R.A. Hunt, the troupe's leader, is in search of recruits to join his crew for a night of singing, dancing, and raucous revelry as they play songs from the album version of their critically-acclaimed stage performance, "Magnificent Machines & Astonishing Tales."

Steeped in both steampunk aesthetic and local history, "Magnificent Machines & Astonishing Tales" takes the audience on an energetic and whimsical journey through 19th century Baltimore in a performance described by DC Metro Theater Arts as "a lightning rod of a show" and "an adventure that sparks to life with each song."

The band recently recorded and released an album version of their rock opera, from which they'll perform selected songs during a one-hour concert set at the festival.

Night Watch Paradox's seven crew members - each of whom plays their instrument, and each of whom is an amateur historian - use their unique blend of progressive rock, new folk, neoclassical, cabaret, post-punk and new wave fusion music to immerse audiences in a world where mad science gadgetry abounds and steam powers the world.

Among the adventures the merry crew embarks on are a search for Edgar Allan Poe's missing cousin, an accidental foray into the 1863 Mobtown Riots and a decisive victory over the British in the War of 1812. Along the way, they must overcome bumbling spies, engine failures, the mighty British Navy and the occasional gin-induced hangover.

"Night Watch Paradox is one of the Mid-Atlantic's musical gems," says Jeni Porter of Main Street Music. "Just one song and you are reeled in and taken on a magical ride."

Night Watch Paradox will perform one set at the festival, on Friday, August 17 at 7 p.m. at the Clarion Inn at 5400 Holiday Drive. Festival-goers can purchase tickets here: https://steampunk-frederick-md.ticketleap.com/key-city-steampunk-festival/dates/Aug-17-2018_at_0100PM
