Independent Music Promotions was founded in 2010 by Canadian music promoter James Moore as an "ethical approach to music PR". From the beginning, I.M.P offered PR services which guaranteed press to every artist. Moore's book "Your Band Is A Virus" details DIY and viral marketing tactics taken from his direct experience as a promoter and online marketer. His writings have gained him a large following online as well as features in publications such as ASCAP, Sonicbids, I Am Entertainment Magazine, Antimusic.com, and Bandzoogle. I.M.P focuses on the "music with depth" niche, so the company does not work with Idol pop or overly mainstream club fare. Most genres are accepted.
