Superstar Demi Lovato is currently in Kenya to celebrate her 21st birthday and revealed that she was given a very unusual present by one of the communities she is staying with.

Writing on her official Twitter page earlier this afternoon (August 22), she confessed that one of the gifts she received was alive and rather unexpected: "Btw... No big deal or anything but... One of Maasai communities gave me a GOAT for my birthday!!!!!! 😍😍😍 ...I named him billy. 😊"

She is in Africa with the charity Free The Children to help build a new school and explained to MTV News that she didn't want a selfish and indulgent party where people would give her expensive gifts, so decided to do something to help others instead:

"With 21 being a milestone birthday, I wanted a memorable and meaningful way to celebrate, rather than throw a big birthday bash. I knew traveling with Me to We and volunteering with Free The Children would give me the opportunity to have a life-changing experience I would never forget, with the people closest to me.”

Lovato returned to the social networking site and added: "This place is absolutely incredible. I'm so in love with Kenya. I'm so sad I'm leaving...."
