Ed Sheeran: 'A cab driver told me my new record had too much bad language so I cut it out'

'Give Me Love' sensation Ed Sheeran has revealed that a taxi driver's suggestion of cutting out some of the bad language on his new album went a long way after he realised that it might prevent a lot of young fans from being able to purchase or listen to it.

He told Britain's Daily Star newspaper that he decided to go back and cut out some of the more colourful language from the record after a cab driver admitted he wouldn't be happy with his younger daughter listening to it:

"My album is clean now. I cut the explicit lyrics out after a taxi driver convinced me it was the right thing to do. He said he wouldn't have let his daughter listen to it otherwise. So I did it."

The 'Sing' superstar also recently confessed to Radio.com that he is happy to have a young fan base because he always expected it to turn out that way: "To be honest, I always did envision it would be teenage fans. To start off with [my fan base] was older men and as soon as it became teenage fans, the gigs started becoming more fun. People weren’t just turning up to stand still."

Sheeran added: "People were turning up to sing, clap, have a good time and enjoy themselves. I really, really like having a young fan base. It’s more exciting."
