New Amp manufacturer gets support from Greg Bone

Vonhatski Amplification Limited is re-defining the global perception of valve driven guitar amplification technology with its new range of high quality amplifiers that are proudly designed and hand built in Britain.

Stefan Suchacki (30) from Goldthorpe near Rotherham is the driving force behind Vonhatski and is aiming to become a market leader with his Purelight 1206 Series of dual rectifier all valve driven guitar amplifiers which are already being seen across festival stages and leading European in-door venues. What’s more, they are being used and endorsed by some of the finest professional guitarists performing and recording with many of the world’s biggest names in music.

Vonhatski produce a 50 watt and 100 watt amp and three separate Extension Cabinets using high quality components inside the solid beech casing. The Purelight series area designed to deliver a clean, crisp sound and “ready to play” technology. It is this aspect that makes them attractive to leading guitarists like Greg Bone.

Greg is a leading session guitarist who has worked with Westlife, Tom Jones, Girls Aloud, Boyzone, Simply Red, Kylie Minogue and Pet Shop Boys amongst others.  Greg is about to go on tour with Ronan Keating and will be taking Vonhatksi amps with him.

“I came across Stef’s amps at Strawberry Fields Festival this year and instantly loved the clean sound and how easy they are to use; they knock spots off of anything similar! Vonhatski were the guitar amplification sponsor for three of the main stages at the festival. It’s the first time I’ve come across an amp where you just plug in and go. I love the two channels, one as clean as a cat’s arse, the other with great hairy balls; it definitely has both sides of the coin and it works,” said Greg Bone.

After years working as an electrical engineer in the Norwegian Oil fields, Stefan turned his hand to designing and making his own amplifier. Once he realised he was onto something special he decided to pour all of his efforts into launching his own business to manufacture and sell the new amps.

“I’ve always been a keen musician but when I looked at the price of high quality amps I figured I could make my own at a greatly reduced cost to the customer with equal tone, power, reliability and build quality to that of competitor amps. I found and used the best components to create a valve amp and realised what I had was everything in an amp that a guitarist could need and spotted its business potential. There are two types of amp on the market, the cheap ones made in China and the high quality ones used by serious professionals. Ours is the latter and is already being used by well-respected musicians,” says Stefan.

Stefan Suchacki launched Vonhatski earlier this year with the help of a UK Steel Enterprise grant. UK Steel Enterprise is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Steel. Its Kickstart Fund provides grants of up to £500 to start-up businesses to purchase essential equipment and or services that can get them trading. Its main investment fund provides business finance in amounts from £25,000 up to £750,000 to companies in South Yorkshire and other areas affected by changes in the steel industry.

Allan Wood, Regional Executive from UK Steel Enterprise says that Stefan’s decision to manufacture his amplifiers in the UK is welcome and a clever marketing tactic: “We launched the Kickstart Fund to help boost the local economy and Stefan is currently supporting 25 jobs in his supply chain as well as the two sales people he is employing. It would’ve been easy to have the amps built in the Far East but Stefan knows the value of the British brand abroad and is making very good use of it. He has already signed up four of the 50 independent retailers in the UK he is targeting and has outlets on the Continent interested in stocking his equipment.”

Stefan knows that he faces stiff competition but believes his amps have features that will make them attractive to a wide range of musicians. “Our amps have a dual rectifier that effect the sensitivity of the strings, bridges and all the electronic connections, which makes a massive difference to the guitar sounds. They also have a “clean” and a “dirty” channel, making them attractive to both jazz type guitarists and rock bands like Swedish band Sister Sin which is already using them. In time we may produce dedicated “dirty” and “clean” amps but for now we are sticking with our versatile version,” says Stefan.

Anyone wanting to make an application to the Kickstart Fund should call Rotherham Youth Enterprise on 0114 269 5053.
