Rihanna has admitted that her mother banned her from dating boys until she was a late teenager.

The singer told Teen Vogue that her upbringing in Barbados was devoid of romance until she was around 16.

This was due to her mother, who wanted to keep the 'Unapologetic' songstress out of trouble until she was more responsible.

Rihanna said: "I wasn't allowed to date. At 13 my mom would tell me, 'You can have a boyfriend when you're 16!' And then at 16 she'd say, 'I never said that - and as a matter of fact, it's 40!'."

The Bajan beauty meanwhile recently posed topless for photos for Vogue magazine.

The singer was spotted wearing nothing on top apart from two small strips of tape covering her nipples.
