Rita Ora on being told she couldn't perform Calvin Harris single: 'It was disappointing for my fans'

Songstress Rita Ora has revealed that the main thing that bothered her when ex-boyfriend Calvin Harris prevented her from performing 'I Will Never Let You Down' at the Teen Choice Awards was the fact that it was disappointing to her fans.

Speaking to Billboard about his lack of permission to sing their collaborative track, she confessed that it was such a shame:

"I don't control other people’s minds, especially if they've written a great song. I couldn't care less that I couldn't perform it -- it was about my fans being disappointed, and that's my nightmare. But I performed it [at the festival] and I'm sure I'll perform it three years from now. It's a part of me. I'm not going to deny that."

Back in August, she explained why Harris has the right to deny her from performing 'I Will Never Let You Down':

"For anybody who doesn’t understand how it works, he wrote and produced the song. So he has to approve anything TV-wise for anybody who doesn’t get it. And obviously he owns the rights to it and he didn’t approve the Teen Choice Awards.”
