Sam Smith 'hates' Christmas songs

Sam Smith has revealed his dislike of Christmas songs.

This is despite the singer recently covering the classic tune 'Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas'.

The Brit told US radio's Mix 104.1 that he isn't won over by most festive tracks, saying:

"I hate Christmas songs. It's true."

Speaking about his own cover, Smith said:

"'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas' is the only song I would ever attempt to sing, because of Judy Garland singing it, and Frank Sinatra singing it. To me, it sounds more like a classic jazz standard."

The singer meanwhile was recently nominated for a total of six Grammy awards, including Album and Song of the Year.

The ceremony will take place on February 8.
