Sam Smith on returning to performing live: 'I am scared - it's intense'

Vocal sensation Sam Smith has revealed that he is nervous about singing live again after undergoing emergency vocal cord surgery earlier this spring.

During a recent interview with KISS FM, the superstar confessed that he is anxious about stepping back out onto the stage to perform after having to bow out for surgery and then the subsequent recovery process:

"I am. I'm scared. If anyone's listening I'm really going to try my absolute best, but I am scared though. It's quite intense to go into. But I love what I do and I wanted to do it, and hopefully I can hold it all together and perform every show."

The 'Lay Me Down' sensation has a packed summer of shows ahead of him, including a full North American tour, and will also perform live at Scotland's T in the Park on July 10.
