Legendary Soul diva, Patti LaBelle, headlines a star-studied night of international award winning artists, at the ‘Great Voices of Soul’ concert at the SSE Arena, Wembley on Sunday 15th November.
The multi Grammy Award winner, whose career has spanned more than five decades, will be joined on the line-up by a stellar selection of Soul music legends including The Whispers, Soul II Soul, The SOS Band and more.
Presented by TBH events, the show will be a must-see for fans of true Soul music, and for live music fans in general.
“We wanted to put together a line-up of some of the most innovative Soul artists that helped to shape the music as we know it today”, said Omar Harrison, TBH Events
“From the Godmother of Soul herself, to the UK’s most iconic Soul music collective, Soul II Soul, we’re sure it’ll be an entertaining and memorable night for the audience.”
After her 16 years as the lead singer of Patti LaBelle and the Bluebelles, LaBelle made the decision to go solo and went on to be honoured with numerous awards and several number one hits including ‘If Only You Knew’ and ‘On My Own’, a duet with Michael McDonald.
Dating back to the late 1960s, The Whispers are one of R&B’s most beloved vocal groups. They have had 33 top ten hits over three decades, and over 20 Billboard charted albums.
However, it’s not just about acts from the States. Waving the British flag on the Great Voices of Soul line up is one of the UK’s most successful groups, double Grammy Award winners Soul II Soul. Founded by Jazzie B in London in 1988, the group has also been nominated for 5 BRIT Awards – twice for Best British Group.
Top British dance and urban contemporary trio Loose Ends will also be among the unrivalled line-up. The single "Hanging on a String (Contemplating)" topped the R&B charts in 1985. It also reached No.1 on the US Billboard R&B making Loose Ends the first British band ever to top that chart.
Rounding up this spectacular line-up, are The S.O.S. Band, one of the hottest 80s R&B collectives, Gwen Dickey known to many as the lead singer of 70s disco group, Rose Royce and Meli'sa Morgan, who has worked with a number of legends including Whitney Houston and Chaka Khan, both onstage as well as in the studios.
