Adele's 'Skyfall' tops UK iTunes chart

Adele's new James Bond theme has topped the UK iTunes chart almost instantly.

The vocal star released the song 'Skyfall' at 0.07 UK time this morning (October 5) and hordes of fans bought the single.

The track acts as the theme for the upcoming James Bond film of the same name, which will be released on October 26.

It is currently topping the UK iTunes chart, swatting away competition from pop heavyweights Rihanna and One Direction.

Speaking previously about 'Skyfall', Adele said that the song, which was co-written by Paul Epworth, was a "no-brainer" in the end. She said:

"I was a little hesitant at first to be involved with the theme song for 'Skyfall'. There's a lot of instant spotlight and pressure when it comes to a Bond song. But I fell in love with the script and Paul had some great ideas for the track and it ended up being a bit of a no-brainer to do it in the end."
