Evanescence's Amy Lee: 'a solo project is totally possible as there is lots of material'

Evanescence's frontwoman Amy Lee has revealed that some of the group's new material isn't right for them and would be better suited to a "solo thing in the future".

The raven-haired vocal powerhouse explained to Billboard.com that although a portion of the new music won't feature on the band's album, it is "totally possible" that it will see the light of day under a different name as an independent project:

"I think that some of those songs aren't right for Evanescence. Some of the songs that we had at that time could maybe be a solo thing in the future. We really do have a lot of extra songs from that time and also songs that the band wrote together; we just wrote a ton in the past few years and especially in the last one year."

Despite her enthusiasm for a potential solo endeavor, Lee was quick to point out that she is "totally focused on Evanescence right now" and added:

"I think it's totally possible that some of those songs will end up on different projects someday -- maybe solo, maybe something else."

She also spoke about her excitement at getting back out on the road with her bandmates to showcase the new tracks and said, "we are going to be touring the whole world. We'll be back in the States several times. We're going to have a pretty extensive South American tour, an Asian tour, more Europe -- all the fun stuff."
