Damien Dempsey Comes Of Age With A St Patrick's Day Performance At The Roundhouse London
Press release: March 2018
Damien Dempsey comes of age with a St Patricks Day performance at The Roundhouse, London on March 17th following nationwide UK Tour
With 5 top 5 albums, two sold out international tours in the last 18 months alone, and a career that now spans a full 18 years, Damien Dempsey is one of Ireland’s most highly respected musicians. His dulcet tones and commanding stage presence have resulted in worldwide acclaim and a chain of sold out tours and performances, including (but not limited to) two sold out tours in Australia, and playing to a sold out Bowery Ballroom in New York City.
2017 saw Damien Dempsey play to 4000 fans at a sold out show at Iveagh Gardens, his largest Irish audience to date and is set to be repeated this July. Things are not set to calm down anytime soon for this Irish Icon, with a full festival run in the UK this summer and a UK tour throughout March already planned.
Damien Dempsey’s illustrious career began in 2000 with the release of his first album ‘They Don’t Teach You This Shit In School’. His smooth and seemingly effortless vocals enamoured listeners the whole world wide, with his subsequent ten album releases having a similarly impressive reception..
2018 will see Damien collaborating with a series of groundbreaking artists. It will feature collaborations with everyone from Imelda May and John Grant to Kate Tempest, Wildwood Kin and The Dubliners, as well as a whole host of other talented artists. It perfectly demonstrates his versatility and dexterity as an artist, and cements his status amongst a series of musical icons.
He is set to perform at The Roundhouse on the 17th of March and the concert, curated by Damien himself, will feature special appearances from rising stars Wildwood Kin, Beoga and Morrissey & Marshall and a DJ set from the ex-Specials brainchild Jerry Dammers .
Damien Dempsey’s music has the same enchanting and enthralling effect now as it did nearly 18 years ago. His music has evolved throughout this period, and yet every album has managed to keep, at its core, a quality that can be unmistakably attributed to Damien and Damien alone. Join him on the 17th of March and witness an artist whose career has never stopped going from strength to strength.
