Gwen Stefani on her marriage break-up song 'Used To Love You'

Gwen Stefani has been discussing the creation of her new single ‘Used To Love You’.

Gwen Stefani split from her husband Gavin Rossdale earlier this year and channelled her feelings into new music.

During an interview with KIIS-FM the No Doubt frontwoman went into detail about the emotional process of producing ‘Used To Love You’:

“I had been writing, writing because my life blew up. Everybody knows that my life blew up last February. I'd just been dealing with that. Unexpected. I was going along thinking that was going to be the rest of my life and it's not. I don't know what happened.”

Going into specifics about the breakdown of her marriage, Stefani explained:

“There was one night, the epicentre of the whole thing - that's the most I can say about that - and the next day I wrote the chorus to 'Used to Love You,' but I didn't know it was 'Used to Love You.' I just had written all this stuff and it had happened to be in there buried in a bunch of lyrics that I had written.”

Gwen Stefani has been frank in recent interviews about her split from Rossdale. She told InStyle magazine about the work and life demands that made the final months of their marriage a stuggle.
