Justin Bieber has invited one of his high school fans to tonight’s Billboard Awards after he was forced to turn down a request to show up at her prom.

The 18-year-old, who will perform current single, ‘Boyfriend,’ at the ceremony, had been the subject of a year-long campaign by teenager Cady Eimer, who set up a website to persuade him to attend her senior prom.

Although the Canadian singer was unable to turn up on the night, he instead surprised her with a special video message in front of all her classmates asking her and sister Holli to join him at the awards in Las Vegas.

Cady, who had previously met Bieber during a meet and greet in North Carolina back in 2010, then trended on Twitter after posting a message revealing her excitement at the news.

She said: “@HolliEmier & I ARE GOING TO THE BILLBOARD AWARDS WITH JUSTIN BIEBER! dreams do come true. thank you @justinbieber and @scooterbraun!!”
