Liam Gallagher: 'I don't even know what Spotify is'

Former Oasis hitmaker Liam Gallagher has revealed that he can't get on board with modern music technologies and, instead, prefers to listen to tunes on vinyl.

He made the confession during an interview with XFM and said that he doesn't know what Spotify is, nor does he have any interest in downloading it in order to stream or discover new artists.

He explained that the physical act of purchasing music then taking the journey home to listen to it is such an experience whereas clicking play on an internet window just isn't the same:

"Listening to it on vinyl is always for me. I don't even know what Spotify is. The first vinyl I ever bought, it really changed my life, got me into music was the Stone Roses album. I remember I bought it in Mr Sifters in Burnage. And then I bought a Greggs pasty right after it. And a big bag of weed. I know exactly what I did that day."

Back in August, it was revealed that Spotify had doubled its revenue, but had also made significant financial losses over the past year. A spokesperson for the company explained: "During 2012 Spotify saw dramatically increased revenues while maintaining a free to paid conversion rate of well over 20 per cent – unheard of for a freemium business, and a clear demonstration of the success of the business model."

"In 2012 the business focused on driving user growth, international expansion and product development, resulting in soaring user numbers and increased market penetration."
