X Factor's Jahmene Douglas admits releasing covers album is either "brave or stupid"

Jahmene Douglas has spoken about releasing an album of covers as his debut release.

The singer impressed on the 2012 series of the X Factor, but he lost out in the final to eventual winner James Arthur.

However, he quickly signed a major label deal after leaving the show, teaming up with RCA.

Speaking to Digital Spy, Douglas admitted that his forthcoming album - 'Love Never Fails' - worries him because it is purely covers. He said:

"This is the part that scares me - it's all covers. That said, I'm from X Factor and I'm lucky just to be making an album. This is me building my foundations with what I can do in the music industry. My second album will be more my stuff because I do write a lot of stuff."

The singer added: "It's either brave or stupid, we'll never know! Hopefully people will embrace it and realise I'm just starting out. If they give me a chance and I'll be able to make a second album. I've been trying to refer to it as gospel interpretations rather than covers. It's me trying to relay the message of a song to make people listen to the lyrics more - hopefully."

'Love Never Fails' meanwhile is due to be released on July 22. It will feature covers of acts such as Emeli Sandé and David Guetta.
