Jennifer Lawrence on Miley Cyrus: "For some disgusting reason, young sex sells"

Jennifer Lawrence has waded into the debate over sexualisation in today's music industry.

The rise of Miley Cyrus this year has seemingly coincided with the 20-year-old becoming more and more inclined to strip off and engage in racy behaviour.

Speaking at the premiere of her latest film Hunger Games: Catching Fire, actress Lawrence admitted that she is "disgusted" by the fact that "young sex" seems to be on the up. She said:

"It is a part of the entertainment industry that sells. Sex sells, and for some disgusting reason young sex sells even more. But for some people, that’s how they feel best, that’s how they feel sexy."

Lawrence added that she herself wants to play parts who would be positive role models for her young fans.

Whilst Miley Cyrus's raunchiness has hit the headlines this year, it was her alleged promotion of illegal drugs at the MTV EMAs this weekend that turned heads recently.

The singer was seen lighting up what looked like a joint in Amsterdam as she collected the Best Video award.
