Azealia Banks announces debut Irish show at Whelans

Rising hip hop star Azealia Banks hits Ireland next month for a debut headline show at Whelan’s on February 6th. Tickets €15.00 including booking fee are on sale tomorrow, Friday 6 January at 9am from Ticketmaster outlets and online at www.ticketmaster.ie

Hailing from Harlem, New York Azealia Banks is an artist at the forefront of just about everyone’s one to watch lists for 2012 having come third in the BBC Sound of 2012 poll and topping NME’s Cool List in 2011. A former student at the famed LaGuardia High School which counts Liza Minnelli, Al Pacino and fellow rapper Nicki Minaj among its alumni Banks released her debut single, Seventeen, featuring Diplo in 2009 to much buzz and hype from music bloggers and publications worldwide. Her musical versatility and range was showcased in late 2010 with her cover of Interpol’s Slow Hands.

NPR Music included the extremely popular 212 in their 100 Favourite Songs of 2011 and you can currently hear Azealia featuring in the Scissor Sisters song Shady Love under the pseudonym Kyrstal Pepsy. Alongside touring she is recording new tracks with award winning producer Paul Epworth (Primal Scream, Adele, Plan B, Florence and The Machine).
