Ne-Yo has admitted that he felt so overwhelmed at meeting Michael Jackson for the first time that he almost fainted.

The R&B superstar, who was hired to write several songs for the pop legend before his death in 2009, told Page Six that he was left completely star-struck after being introduced to his idol:

“His first words to me when he walked into the room were, 'You know what my favourite song of yours is,' and he started singing lyrics... I almost fainted. I didn't, but I came this close."

The ‘Closer’ singer, who paid tribute to Jackson during a concert in New York earlier this week, added that he’s glad to have his own personal memories of the King of Pop:

“Whenever I get to that place like, damn, Mike is gone, I can listen back to those songs and [think of] the time that we met."
