Taylor Swift says new album is a 'rebirth'

Taylor Swift believes her new sound marks a "rebirth" for her.

The singer announced last night (August 18) that she will release her next record '1989' on October 27.

It sees the US star pay tribute to pop and it seems Swift is going further away from her country roots.

Speaking in a webchat to announce the record, Swift said:

"I’ve been working on a new album for two years. I like to work on albums for two years, because I feel like two years gives you enough time to grow and change...This is a bit of a rebirth for me."

Swift meanwhile has also released the single 'Shake It Off', with a video uploaded online too.

The track will be available to download with pre-orders of the album.
