Taylor Swift admits surprise at new album sales

Taylor Swift has revealed her shock at the success of her new album.

The country-pop star unleashed her fourth studio album 'Red' last month and it sold a staggering 1.2 million copies in the US on its first week.

Naturally, it topped charts and has seen a worldwide impact, giving Swift her first UK No.1.

It came as a surprise to the singer, who initially just hoped that her fans would "embrace" her new record. She said:

"I had hoped that my fans would get what I was doing there - that they would embrace it. And the fact that they celebrated that and 1.2m of them went out and bought it the first week and it became my first UK number one album, it is absolutely incredible."

Swift is due to tour North America next year in the support of 'Red', with collaborater Ed Sheeran set to support. Watch the video for Swift's 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together' below:
