Tulisa: "The public love and despise me"

Tulisa Contostavlos believes public opinion of her is split equally between love and hate.

The singer's profile has increased in the past year after she joined the X Factor as a judge in 2011.

Speaking to ITV's This Morning, Tulisa said that when she was in urban trio N-Dubz, people either hated or loved her.

However, the 'Young' singer believes opinion has fluctuated since she appeared on the X Factor. Contostavlos said:

"I think the public perception of me is 50/50. Despised and loved. I'd say from N-Dubz it was very 50/50. When I first started X Factor, it leaned more towards being loved. And then now, it's kind of back to 50/50."

She continued: "I think that when I first started X Factor I didn't choose to sugar coat myself, I'm always myself, but I was just kind of finding my feet. I was quite wary coming into this new place in the public eye and then it just got to the point where I have to 100% be myself. And then as soon as I started being 100% myself, it went back to 50/50.  But I'm cool with that, as long as I'm being me."
