Two musical gems from the Polish metal scene will receive vinyl treatment for the first time this week, courtesy of Moans Music and Fabryka Hałasu.

Nyia’s debut album “Head Held High” was originally released in 2004 via Candlelight Records and is considered by connoisseurs as one of the most important underground releases of the start of the century. Nyia was a so-called supergroup of Polish musicians as it consisted of the following members on its debut album: Bogdan Kondracki, Wojciech Szymański (both ex-Kobong, Neuma), Jarosław „China” Łabieniec (ex-Vader), Piotr Bartczak (ex-Dies Irae) as well as the late Szymon Czech (ex-Prophecy, Third Degree). The band’s heavy and non-compromising music caught Napalm Death bassist Shane Embury’s ear early on who also released the band’s second album “More Than You Expect” via his and Mick Kenney’s (Anaal Nathrakh) FETO Records.

“Head Held High” demonstrates what Nyia was - operating on its own plane and crushing all assumptions and preconceptions. Non-compromising music, not for the fainthearted. “Head Held High” can now be ordered via the Moans Music webstore or Bandcamp.

Atrocious Filth’s “OVV” is a powerful album with a pumelling, abrasive and groovy sound but not too intimidating or too abstract. While comparisons could be made to a mix of genres or bands, Atrocious Filth deliver something new and unique that it is impossible to pinpoint a particular genre. The band’s history goes back to the early 90s and could be considered a hidden gem for fans of heavy, pummelling and experimental music. The band was founded in 1991 in Olsztyn, Poland by the late ex-Vader drummer Krzysztof ‘Docent’ Raczkowski, Sławomir ‘Małeg’ Jóźwiak (bass) and Andrzej ‘Andzia’ Choromański (guitar). The band’s debut album, “100% Jesus”, was released in 1994 on cassette and only 14 years later on CD. Following a nearly 20-year break, the band is back with a sound that bring an atmosphere of the past but also brings something new to the table.
