Europe’s Biggest Dance Show returns to BBC Radio 1 for 2023

Europe’s Biggest Dance Show will return to Radio 1 on Friday 22 September with ten countries set to take part in a marathon broadcast showcasing the best of each nation’s dance scene

Radio 1 will be joining forces with eleven stations across ten countries for a mass simulcast with Radio 1’s Danny Howard kicking off the celebrations at 6.30pm. Danny will play 30 minutes of the hottest Dance music from some of the biggest UK acts before handing over to the next Country.

Radio 1 has a rich history of championing Dance music in the UK and around the world, with the first show of this kind taking place in 2019. Now a highly anticipated feature of the Dance music calendar, Europe’s Biggest Dance Show unites stations from across the European Broadcasting Union to bring the very best in Dance music to an audience of millions.

Danny Howard says: "I’m delighted and slightly overwhelmed to be representing the UK to an entire continent. Europe’s Biggest Dance Show represents exactly what I believe Electronic music is all about, connection. What better way to showcase how powerful this genre is by bringing together each of our amazing scenes and sounds for one huge party, probably the biggest party on the planet!"

Aled Haydn Jones, Head of Radio 1, says: "Europe’s Biggest Dance Show continues to evolve and unite listeners from around the world through the power of Dance music. This year eleven stations are taking part across ten countries and we welcome Spain and Estonia who we are partnering with for the first time. It’s set to be another incredible night of Dance music."

Listeners can hear all the action live on BBC Radio 1 and BBC Sounds from 6.30pm BST on Friday 22 September.
