All ten Hot For 2022 artists will record bespoke performances of their biggest tracks to date which will be available to watch on BBC iPlayer and listen to on BBC Sounds from 13 January 2022, with more exclusive content to follow later in the year. 1Xtra will also give consistent support throughout the year to all of the acts.

Target says: “The last 12 months has been a very challenging time for everyone but the one consistent thing I’ve seen is emerging new artists and amazing music continuing to come to the forefront. This year’s Hot For list is another great reflection of who’s about to blow in 2022 and I’m as excited as ever to watch their careers unfold.”

2021’s line-up included the likes of Central Cee, Bellah, Pa Salieu and Ivorian Doll who all went on to have a massively successful year, with support from BBC Radio 1Xtra throughout.

Other Hot For alumni include Shaybo (2020), Koffee (2019), Mahalia (2018), AJ Tracey (2017), J Hus (2016) and Stormzy (2015).

The Hot For 2022 list

AMARIA BB

AMARIA BB is a Jamaican-born, Hackney-raised singer-songwriter.

Already a friend of 1Xtra, having presented a Black History Month Takeover special, AMARIA BB'S style merges the Jamaican Dancehall and Reggae styles with her soulful sound.

Her 2021 single 'Slow Motion' was a firm favourite across 1Xtra.

Enny

South-east London, rapper and singer Enny's 'Peng Black Girls' was a much needed ode to #blackgirlmagic during 2020.

2021 saw her build on her eclectic sound which saw her collaborate with fellow artist Odeal and earn a MOBO nomination. In 2022 all roads lead to the long-awaited release of her debut EP, 'Under 25'.

Gabzy

Bringing his own take on the Afro-fusion genre, South-east London's Gabzy is steadily making a name for himself and his music.

The singer-songwriter released his debut 4-track collaborative project, 'Summers' with American producer melvitto and boasts fans such as Masego, Tion Wayne and Darkoo.

Jords

Jords is a rapper, producer, singer-songwriter and poet from South London.

He has worked with an array of artists such as D Double E and the legendary Maxi Priest and has garnered support from various platforms including BBC Music Introducing.

Knucks

North-west London rapper Knucks combines Grime and old-school Hip-Hop to create his ‘smooth old-school reminiscent’ sound. He credits Sade, MF Doom and Nas as influences and has multiple EPs under his belt, plus co-signs from rappers such as Wretch 32 and Stormzy.

Meekz

Meekz is a Manchester born rapper who has had viral hits with his ‘P110 Hood's Hottest’ and ‘Mad About Bars’ for 1Xtra's Kenny Allstar. He is also known for doing larger than life stunts for is video shoots, which continually proves that his pizzazz matches his lyrical flow.

Miss LaFamilia

Rapper and singer Miss LaFamilia hails from Birmingham and describes herself as ‘straight-talking and unapologetic.’ Her lyricism reflects the harshness of the environment that she grew up in, one that she isn't shy to talk about in her music.

In 2019 she released her first-ever freestyle which gained 1 million views in the first month and most recently, she teamed up with global star Popcaan on track 'Monsta'.

Pip Millet

Although R&B singer-songwriter Pip Millet grew up in a household that was immersed in music, the Mancunian never actually saw music as a viable career choice until later on in her formative years.

Fast forward to today and a few EPs deep, those early musical influences permeate through her sound and has garnered her a loyal and growing fanbase as well as co-signs from Ghetts and Jorja Smith.

Rimzee

East London's rapper Rimzee is described as being known for 'depicting a life of luxury, pain and hustle'.

He has maintained his loyal fanbase following his culture classic debut mixtape, 'The Upper Clapton Dream' and it seems the only direction for him is up.

Tems

Lending her distinctive tones to Wizkid's 'Essence', the Nigerian-born and raised singer-songwriter has steadily built a name for herself with stellar songs, and fans to boot; having caught the attention of international sensation Rihanna.

Releasing her debut EP, 'For Broken Ears' in 2020, Tems has gone on to work with artists such as Davido and Drake.
