This weekend, BBC Radio 2 will be counting down the top hits of three musical legends - Madonna, Prince and Michael Jackson, to celebrate the year in which they all would’ve turned, or recently turned, 60 years old.

Madonna and Prince’s top 20 hits will be revealed in a Pick of the Pops special with Paul Gambaccini (Saturday 25 August, 1-3pm) and Michael Jackson’s top 60 hits, including Jackson 5 songs and duets, will be revealed throughout the day on Monday 27 August.

Jeff Smith, Head of Music at BBC Radio 2, said: “I’m delighted that Radio 2 is turning its schedules to these three icons of pop, Michael Jackson, Prince and Madonna, in the year that each has or would have turned 60. As we celebrate this milestone, these charts remind us just how influential their music remains.”

Madonna recently turned 60 on 16 August, Prince would have turned 60 on 7 June and Michael Jackson would have turned 60 on 29 August.

Each chart has been compiled by the Official Charts Company and is based on all-time official sales and streams of Prince, Madonna and Michael Jackson (including The Jacksons/The Jackson 5 and duets), incorporating physical singles, digital downloads and audio streams up to the end of June 2018. The charts can be viewed in full at officialcharts.com

The Official Charts Company says: “Three huge icons of the Official Chart deserve to be celebrated in style, and that they will be! These new charts compiled especially for Radio 2 will determine once and for all Britain’s favourite Madonna, Prince and Michael Jackson single - reflecting more than 26m physical sales, 10m digital downloads, over 600m audio streams, and that’s just the career hits that made it into the countdowns.”
