Beginning on Saturday 1 April and running through to the end of August, BBC Northern Ireland’s drama unit will also release a back catalogue of titles, offering listeners something to enjoy under headphones, in the kitchen or garage or out on walks for the whole summer. The programmes will air at 12.30pm on Saturdays on BBC Radio Ulster, and will all be available from April as box sets on BBC Sounds for binge listening. Simply log on to BBC Sounds, search for Storytellers and hit ‘subscribe’. The series begins with Short Stories, New Writers - 12 tales from MA Creative Writing students at Queen’s University’s Seamus Heaney Centre. A serial killer thriller and award-nominated series ‘Dead Hand’ follows from May 13. The Circus, a drama set in Belfast’s Carlisle Circus about a pub talent show, begins on June 17. Six more short stories from established writers will run from July 22 for three weeks, followed by the acclaimed collection ‘Dance Move’, by local writer, Wendy Erskine. Also being released on BBC Sounds as part of the season are: Dracula – read by Michael Fassbender WG Lyttle’s Sons of the Sod The Last Resort by local writer Jan Carson The 100 Year Backstop by Michael Patrick and Oisín Kearney (My Left Nut) And a host of further short stories from the best new writers from Northern Ireland.
