Lesia hails from East London and has music in her blood - her mum was a funky house singer and she’s trained in the performing arts. A property inventory clerk by day, she loves performing and wants to make it in the industry. Out of her comfort zone among the big personalities of the Rap Game penthouse, will she hold her own in the competition?

When did you first come across Rap Game?

One of my friends watched the first series and hit me up on Instagram. She thought I’d be great on the show. So I binged it in two days - I really enjoyed it. At that point I didn’t even know if there’d be a second season or if the audition process had started yet. Then, funnily enough, someone hit me up on Instagram and was like ‘hey do you wanna do this?’. So here we are today…

What do you want to get out of this competition?

I want to improve myself as an artist - figure out my strengths, weaknesses. Obviously we’re being mentored by some of the biggest in the UK right now - so to be able to take advice from them and get that exposure is amazing. I wanna learn about their artistry while I’m here.

What do you think your strengths are?

I know I’ve got bars. I know I can write very well. This process has stretched me in terms of being able to deliver a strong performance with a 24 hour turnaround. In my everyday life, that’s never been necessary. It’s preparing me for those situations in the outside world, when I’m doing music in the future.

Is there anything that you’re worried or apprehensive about?

I’ve been worried about the clash. I know that’s something that will test my abilities as an artist and a rapper. That’s one thing that I’m like ok… let’s get this done!

Where do you want to be in five years’ time?

In five years’ time I want people to be listening to what I have to say - listening to my music and taking it in. I want to have some songs in the charts and to be on tour. I want people to sing my tunes back at me - that’s the dream.

How would you describe your style?

My style is soulful, melodic rap. I’ve got a very old school hip-hop vibe and I add melodies in there. Very vibesy.
