Series two of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK is on its way and the doors are open for series three casting

Following the runway success of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, BBC Three and World of Wonder are proud to help the nation feel 'much better' by announcing that the long awaited series two of Drag Race UK is set to air on British screens in early 2021.

In addition, RuPaul’s Drag Race UK and BBC Three are opening up the application process for series three today in search of yet another fine set of fabulous queens to compete in the Olympics of Drag.

RuPaul Charles, Michelle Visage, Graham Norton and Alan Carr will all be returning to our screen for series two of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK due to air on BBC Three early 2021, bringing some much needed joy to the UK.

Series one best bits
In the debut series, ten charismatic drag queens took on a myriad of challenges that tested their drag ability to the max. They showcased the best of British drag, and humour as they revelled in in the joy of the competition jostling shoulder pad to shoulder pad for a much coveted RuPeter badge, and the chance to be crowned as RuPaul’s very First Drag Race UK Superstar. The Vivienne took the title, with Divina De Campo and Baga Chipz taking runner up places, respectively.

Early in 2021, season two will arrive with all the hope, joy, laughter and glitter you’ve come to expect from our brilliant queens. We’re also currently casting season three with the best and the brightest Great Britain has to offer. We feel honored that you’ve embraced our little show, and our only wish is that we can offer a smile at a time when we can all use it the most."

Fiona Campbell, Controller of BBC Three, says: “We’re very happy to confirm that series two of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK is on its way very soon and with 12 new queens to meet, it’s even bigger than the first series and we can’t wait for you to see it in early 2021. A global phenomenon, the RuPaul's Drag Race franchise is available in 193 countries through network partners and World of Wonder's streaming service WOW Presents Plus. The series has a total of 19 Emmy wins, making it the Television Academy’s most-awarded reality competition show in history. In 2018, Drag Race became the first series to win Best Reality-Competition Program and Host in the same year, and the show had a repeat victory at this years' ceremony.

Our lips are still sealed with regards to the incoming queens, and extra special celebrity judges, BUT we can tell you that the second series will be even bigger than the first, with twelve queens battling it out for the title of the UK’s Next Drag Superstar over ten weeks.

Generating many memes, garnering huge critical acclaim, picking up numerous award nominations, and even breaking into the music charts with a top ten single, series one of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK triumphantly slayed for BBC Three, with a huge 15.6 million requests on iPlayer so far.

RuPaul’s Drag Race UK is an 10x60' World of Wonder production for BBC Three. It was commissioned by Fiona Campbell, Controller BBC Three and Kate Phillips, Controller, BBC Entertainment. The Executive Producers are RuPaul Charles, Fenton Bailey, Randy Barbato, Tom Campbell, Sally Miles and Bruce McCoy, and the BBC Commissioning Editor is Ruby Kuraishe.
