Elton often leaves the descriptions about the most personal songs, like Tiny Dancer and Sacrifice, to his long term musical partner and lifelong friend Bernie Taupin to explain. Highlights include the inside stories on the first time he heard Rocket Man on the radio, stumping Bob Geldof about the identity of the singer on Blue Eyes, the pinnacle of his career when Cary Grant met him backstage at Dodger Stadium and how he performed his recent Cold Heart duet with Dua Lipa live, for the first time, when he was a customer at a beach bar in the south of France.

This programme is available on BBC Sounds from Monday 12 June as part of the BBC Sounds collection, Back To Back Sounds: Glastonbury.
