Jason Momoa gets cosy in the CBeebies studio in PJs as he reads the children’s classic tale ‘Tiddler’ by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler, the story of a little fish with a big imagination.

Jason says: “One of my favourite books that I read to my children as they were growing up was ‘The Gruffalo’, so I am very happy to read another amazing story by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler for a CBeebies Bedtime Story.”

Opening the story, the Aquaman star says: “I’m here to read you a Bedtime Story from my underwater kingdom. The sea is full of stories. I could tell you many tales of my amazing adventures in the sea, but I’m not the only one. Every creature in the ocean, from the mightiest whale to the tiniest tiddler, has their own tale to tell. And this book is about a very little fish who has some very big stories of his own.”

Airing on Friday 22 December (6.50pm, CBeebies and BBC iPlayer), Jason Momoa’s CBeebies Bedtime Story tops off a week of celebrity readings for the much-loved show.

Christmas week kicks off on Monday 18 December with a brand new story from ever-popular CBeebies Bedtime Story reader Tom Hardy. Recorded earlier this year in his garden, Tom is accompanied by his French bulldog, Blue.

The award-winning actor, who first appeared on CBeebies on New Year’s Eve 2016, reads ‘Tisha and the Blossom’ by Wendy Meddour and illustrated by Daniel Egnéus. At this busy time of year, the book encourages us all to slow down and take notice of the world around us.

After reading the story, Tom says: “Tisha has taught me a great lesson, just slow down. The world can be a very, very busy place. Your mind can be full of sounds and pictures and just… busyness. So it is important to take your time to slow down and go at your own speed.”

On Tuesday 19 December, Mr Motivator takes to the story seat to read ‘Into the Wild’ by Thomas Docherty about a little boy Joe who learns that nature can be found just about everywhere when he goes to find bright and beautiful wild things in the city.

On Wednesday 20 December, singer and internet star Talia Mar reads ‘Princesses Break Free’ by Timothy Knapman and illustrated by Jenny Løvlie, a wild adventure about a princess who takes life into her own hands without waiting around for somebody else to rescue her.

On Thursday 21 December, musician Gaz Coombes returns to CBeebies. Gaz reads ‘Ella May Does It Her Way’ by Mick Jackson and illustrated by Andrea Stegmaier about a young girl who likes to do things her way.

Gaz says: “It was such a joy to read for the brilliant CBeebies Bedtime Stories again. This time it’s ‘Ella May Does It Her Way’. It’s a funny, sweet little tale that I hope you all enjoy hearing as much as I did reading it.”

On Friday 22 December, Jason Momoa reads ‘Tiddler’, and previously announced for Saturday 23 December is ‘The Invisible String’ read by multiple members of the UK Armed Forces at their bases in the UK and around the world.

On Christmas Eve, Justin Fletcher appears as Father Christmas with a new reading of The Night Before Christmas by Clement Clarke Moore. On Christmas Day, Justin is joined by Dodge The Dog to read ‘The Hospital Dog’ by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Sara Ogilvie at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.
