Strictly Come Dancing star Carlos Gu will read a CBeebies Bedtime Story to families across the UK in a special Lunar New Year celebration.

Carlos will dazzle viewers with a reading of I Love Chinese New Year, written by Eva Wong Nava and illustrated by Xin Li. The story is an introduction to the true meaning of Chinese New Year and delightful family traditions.

I Love Chinese New Year follows Mai-Anne as she learns about twelve animals and their special powers in the story of how Chinese New Year began. As her family start decorating the house, there’s a knock on the door… her grandmother, Nai Nai, has arrived. They start their celebrations with a traditional meal filled with fish for good luck, noodles for long life, dumplings for blessings and a whole chicken!

Carlos Gu says: “I’m thrilled to be in the iconic CBeebies Bedtime Story chair this Lunar New Year, sharing the magic of storytelling with families. I hope this lovely story about the wonderful traditions and values of Chinese culture brings joy and warmth to all those who tune in!”

Carlos Gu joins the stellar slate of famous faces to have read a CBeebies Bedtime Story including Jason Momoa, David Tennant, Harry Styles, Guz Khan, Jodie Whittaker and Rose Ayling-Ellis.

CBeebies Bedtime Story is on each weekday at 6.50pm on CBeebies and BBC iPlayer.

Carlos Gu’s story will air on Friday 9 February.
