She masterminded Quarantine Concert Series: The Apocalypse as a way to support what she describes as the “ecosystem that helps her grow.” The individuals that help bring her visions to life, especially during the tour season where they earn the majority of their income.

“All at once, it was like everything stopped. Not just for me… but for the people I hire to go on the road with me,” said Badu. “Their livelihood was in my hands, and I knew I had to do something for us.”
