Dallas, Texas born, Los Angeles based artist Jasimi refuses to follow your typical crowd. Already gaining support from the likes of Spotifyâs editorial playlists âNew Music Fridayâ and receiving over 50,000 monthly listeners, itâs safe to say that this songwriter is turning heads. Back with alternative hip-hop wonder âFOOODâ, thereâs something for everyone to taste on within the new single. Wanting to make music that will inspire people and make people dance to, Jasimi is a glowing artist destined to find a place in your heart.
Sharing her thoughts on the sensational new single, Jasimi explains, âFOOOD is eclectic, funky, unique and sexy. Itâs an embodiment of 3 different faces of woman. The fiery, the ethereal, and the humble. Itâs a song about love, lust and trust. I think itâs special because it hits you at the base of your spine, the top of your head and your heart. Iâve never heard a song like it before, which I think is cool. Itâs also about sex. But the kind that is nourishing like a delicious meal rather than junk foodâ.â
Having always been musical and listening to do-wop tracks since the age of 6, it wasnât until Jasimi was a little older when a family friend introduced her to Black music artists, and her whole world changed. Listening to everything from Missy Elliott, Ray Charles to Louis Armstrong, Jasimi's music vocabulary has continued to grow ever since. Loving the direction that the industry is currently heading in, Jasimiâs current up to date artists are Glass Animals, Ibeyi, Remi Wolf, Tierra Whack and Still Woozy.
Jasimiâs brand new single âFOOODâ is out now, and itâs a colourful experience, best described as passionate.
