Wanting to solely focus on bodies of work conceptually, Moli’s aim is to take you to another place entirely and transport you to a world full of warm textures and jazzy psychedelica. ‘12 Ways I see Myself’ is the third single from his debut album ‘Retrogression Progression’ and a full exploration into his dreamy soundscapes. Previous releases ‘Universe Rains / With You’ and ‘Please Hold Me’ preceded thus, and tell an overall story into the mind of Moli and the ideology of accepting your own conventionalities through not knowing one's own self initially. Having grown up with a liking for alternative psychedelic rock and the genres surrounding that, Moli wanted to then re-create his own version of what he would want it to sound like.

It’s mightily transcendent and impressive, and is a true journey of self reflection and preservation for Moli. Opening up with an atmospheric, electronic synth setting, he sings the title track and moves in between melodies in a seamless and melancholic way. Then the song switches mood exoitcally, and starts to really push the boundaries of psychedelica, with pounding drums and swirling synthesisers moving around your mind. It’s a deeply moving piece of music that lasts for a pulsating 8+ minutes, and it’s very hard to pinpoint the exact genre of this, which is what makes it so beautiful.

Expertly put together and arranged, Moli has certainly made his mark with ‘12 Ways I see Myself”, and there are many moments of magic throughout that will surely captivate the interest of many.

About

Moli is the moniker of Anmol Gupta, who finds an immediate warmth and saturation in the creation of musical forms and experiences. Born in India, he has not followed the usual paths taken by those around him, and instead was heavily influenced by musical instruments from a young age. Discovering the art of production and the many sounds you can create from a laptop, he was quickly drawn to the more experimental genres, filled with ambience, vintage drum progressions and synth bass lines.
