May 17, 2024 – This evening, Disney+ hosted a special UK screening of the evocative original documentary CAMDEN. The four-part series, which launches on Disney+ on 29th May celebrates this iconic corner of London and its impact on today's biggest music names.

Presenter Edith Bowman hosted an onstage Q&A with Soul II Soul's Jazzie B, Sister Bliss from Faithless, and executive producers Suzanne Lavery (Lightbox) and Nick Shymansky (Day One Pictures) ahead of the screening.

Among the attendees in the audience were executive producers including Academy-Award winning Simon Chinn from Lightbox, Jasper Waller-Bridge, and Ben Friedman from Day One Pictures and series directors Toby Trackman, Sarah Lambert and Yemi Bamiro. Content creators present on the night included Em Wallbank, Keith Afadi, Sarah Gordon and Chris Kowalski among others.

During the Q&A, Jazzie B said “It was an amazing experience to be a part of CAMDEN. The wonderful thing about Camden is it’s full of innovation and creativity”, quipping, “I kinda feel like the gatekeeper of Camden, you gotta come through me if you wanna be a part of it.”

Meanwhile, Sister Bliss commented: “We wouldn’t be Faithless without Soul II Soul […] Camden is the place I lived, the first ever record deal, the first ever clubbing spot. The team really managed to capture Camden’s sense of energy and possibility.” Speaking about Faithless bandmate Maxi Jazz, she added: “We lost Maxi in 2022 and I wish he was here to see the documentary.”

Suzanne Lavery, Executive Producer said “[Camden] became this huge love-in of incredible artists sharing their stories and we created an incredible documentary together. It became one big rich tapestry of Camden-ness and we can't wait for you to enjoy it all when it’s out on Disney+."

Nick Shymansky, Executive Producer said “Amy [Winehouse] and I came here and saw Kanye’s first show together. Being around the people that are the epitome Camden is inspiring and goes on to inspire generations of music to come.”

This exclusive screening follows the announcement earlier this week that Noel Gallagher would feature alongside the previously announced line up of series contributors, including Executive Producer Dua Lipa, Coldplay's Chris Martin, Little Simz, Yungblud, Questlove, Pete Doherty and Carl Barat of The Libertines, Nile Rodgers, Boy George, Suggs from Madness, Black Eyed Peas, Chuck D, Eliza Rose, Lauren Laverne and more.

Set in London's beating heart of music CAMDEN reveals the untold stories of how the lives and careers of some of the world’s most iconic artists were influenced by this corner of London. Through archive footage, observational filming and interviews, we will explore Camden’s rich history. Hearing from world renowned musicians as they relive their Camden experiences; from their very first gigs to sell out concerts, the highs & lows of nights out and a youth spent discovering music.

With access to some of the biggest music stars in the world whose lives were changed forever by this tiny part of London. The series will reveal the extraordinary untold stories of how the lives and careers of many of today’s most iconic music acts were shaped by Camden.

CAMDEN is available exclusively on 29th May when all four episodes will drop globally on Disney+, as well as Hulu in the U.S.
