"You’re beautiful but we just won’t make it through/Baby you and I, we’re the flowers on the moon" —AJ Mitchell

(Los Angeles, CA — Mar. 15, 2024) Today AJ Mitchell takes his fans a step further on his journey to As Far As The Eyes Can See, his upcoming new album, with the release of his cathartic new single and music video, “Flowers On The Moon.” The new release follows recent singles “Passionate” and “Foolish,” as Mitchell continues to bring fans into the world of his sophomore effort.

AJ Mitchell’s new single is a hopeless love story, punctuated by the dreadful revelation in its chorus—“You’re beautiful, but we just won’t make it through”—as he describes an intense romance that appears to have a devastatingly low ceiling. It’s a theme that’s been strung along dutifully over the course of Mitchell’s three recent singles; “Passionate” explored his curiosity for a fiery encounter, while “Foolish” left him wondering whether the reward was worth the risk. On “Flowers On The Moon,” woven over a mellow piano melody, continues that track, and finds our protagonist taking stock of the damage.

The song’s music video, directed by Yulya and Marita Shadrinsky (of the recent Marc Jacobs x LIl Uzi Vert campaign), points to these themes subtly. Set in a recent “wedding in Paris,” Mitchell and his friends appear to be having a blast of a time. However, from a bouquet toss gone wrong to the accidental beheading of the wedding cake’s groom figurine, there’s a clear undertone of hopelessness in both people and love. At the video’s conclusion, you’re left unsure whether Mitchell considers either entity worth saving.

“I went to Paris for a friend's wedding expecting a beautiful and magical moment. Unfortunately, It was everything but that. It was chaotic, messy and unpredictable,” says AJ Mitchell of his new video. “Every second there’s something that goes wrong almost as if it's a sign from the universe that things will continue to get worse until you part ways.”

The release of “Flowers On The Moon” continues to set the stage for As Far As The Eye Can See. The cinematic album unfolds as a true coming-of-age. Tracing all the stages of a relationship from infatuation to eventual dissolve, the 22-year-old says that after knowingly dating someone that wasn’t good for him, he felt compelled to, “Go ‘as far as the eye can see,’ where there’s nothing blocking my vision, where I’m free to create.”

Earlier this week, AJ Mitchell announced The AFATECS North American Tour, kicking off on May 31 in Vancouver, BC. The 21-date trek will hit major cities such as Los Angeles, CA on June 5 and New York, NY on June 27 before wrapping up in Philadelphia, PA on July 1. Tickets are on-sale to the general public today via https://www.ajmitchell.me. The full tour routing can be found below.

About AJ Mitchell:

AJ Mitchell is an explorer. The 22-year-old rising star writes with the thrill of discovery in mind. After more than a billion streams, he’s stepping into a bold new world with his second album As Far As The Eye Can See, an electro-pop-soul odyssey through love and loss. “With this album, I wanted to go ‘as far as the eye can see,’ where there’s nothing blocking my vision, where I’m free to create,” he explains. AJ wrote the album while dating a girl he knew wasn't right for him but couldn’t resist. Their doomed romance opened him up to the central themes of his new album: experiencing things that might hurt us and exploring life regardless of the outcome, doing what feels right, and not giving a fuck.

Since 2018, AJ Mitchell’s music has connected with openhearted listeners. He leapt past the one-billion-stream mark within three years after being discovered on social media where his soulful covers of popular songs earned him over a million followers. He charted four Top 40 songs at pop radio, collaborated with names like Ava Max, Cheat Codes, and Steve Aoki, and received acclaim from the likes of Variety (“who put them on their 2020 “Young Hollywood” list), Billboard, MTV, and more. While his 2021 debut album SKYVIEW introduced us to this “pop prince-in-the-making,” as dubbed by Hunger magazine, this next chapter invites us into AJ’s expanding kingdom, one built on melodies as infectious as they are unpredictable. “With this album, the goal was to explore, to have a good time, and make the best music possible,” he says. “I think that’s why I love music so much. It can start with anything. I can create whatever world I want and just start exploring it.”
