“Through sheer faith and tenacity, Tyla anoints herself as South Africa’s brightest new star, reinforcing that amapiano was never a ‘moment’ – and only ever a true movement.” - NME

After the highly anticipated release of her self-titled debut album, Grammy Winning Amapiano Pop-R&B Sensation Tyla celebrated in grand style at SAA, 154 Scott Avenue, Brooklyn, NY. The event, which featured three captivating experiences, brought together industry insiders, and media figures to honor Tyla’s new music release.

In the past week, Grammy Winning Amapiano Pop-R&B Sensation Tyla’s newest single “ART” from her self-titled debut album has already taken the internet by storm through her #FreshOutTheGallery Shorts challenge.

In partnership with YouTube, the first event of the night was led by choreographer Rob Bynes alongside dozens of YouTube Creators to bring the dance challenge to life. Serving up Tyla’s signature high-energy and fluid choreo, the class marked the official kickoff of #FreshOutTheGallery on Shorts and coincided with the “Water” phenomenon’s highly anticipated, self-titled debut album release.

Following the dance class, an intimate media dinner provided a platform for Tyla to connect with key figures from notable media outlets, including Rolling Stone, NPR, Harper's Bazaar, V Magazine, The Wall Street Journal and more underscoring the growing acclaim surrounding Tyla's debut album. The celebration continued with a lively after-party with partners Tepozan Tequila and YouTube Shorts, where guests enjoyed signature cocktails and celebrated Tyla's success with guest appearances by Kai Cenat, Joey Badass, Monet McMicheal well into the night with sounds by DJ AQ and DJ Moma.

The release of TYLA follows a historic second half of 2023 for Tyla, who became the highest-charting female soloist in African history on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 when "Water" peaked as the #7 song in the nation. Along with this accolade came an RIAA Platinum certification and Tyla’s first GRAMMY nomination. In February, that became a GRAMMY victory, for “Best African Music Performance,” in a crowded field that included Davido, WizKid, and Burna Boy.

Fans in search of the full suite of the TYLA album experience are encouraged to check out the singer’s merch bundle, which includes autographed vinyl options, streetwear and, in true pop star fashion, an album poster.
