Jackie Vae was born in the wrong decade, with driving vocals and jazz sound meant for a 1920’s speakeasy. Her sound is undeniably sexy and suave. Today, February 26, SILO: RCRDS offers her five-track EP Curtains.

Her clear tone beautifully emphasizes her air of drama, sucking you into the mood she paints through her music as evident in cuts like “Favorite Sin” and “Help Me Love Again.” The bass-heavy percussive synths add a touch of post-apocalyptic beauty, while the broken-hearted vocal, saloon-esque pianos, and interruptive brass section, anchor it in a nostalgic place all its own throughout the EP, closing with a smoldering rendition of Tom Waits cover of “Dead And Lovely.”
“When I wrote these songs I was just starting to believe in myself as an artist. I put a lot of my personal feels into this body of work. It’s dark, swaggy, sarcastic, bouncy, broken-hearted and ends with the title track ‘Curtains’ in the most explosive and freeing way,” shares Jackie Vae. “‘Curtains” was also the last song I wrote so my headspace at the time was past the trenches and breathing outside the wounds instead of through them. I want to bring catharsis and make the listener feel like a dominant, empowered badass.”
Jackie Vae’s music has been placed in shows like “Gotham” and “Arrow,” providing a perfect accompaniment to storylines filled with vibrant fantasy.
