On Saturday, July 29, globally renowned electronic artist Nicole Moudaber debuted her new transcendental live show at pioneering immersive space ArtsDistrict Brooklyn in New York City. With over 1700 fans in attendance, Moudaber was the first DJ ever to perform at the borough’s emerging tech-hub.

During her all-night-long set which spanned from 10:00 pm until 5:00 am, the DJ, producer, label owner and visionary transported the packed out room with her immersive show on a scale unlike anything that has been seen before. Amid Moudaber’s thundering set of choice techno and house tracks, fans were treated to a visual journey submerged in ArtsDistrict’s 360-degree projection technology depicting her avatar in a parallel universe–one where past and future merge and champions the power of the feminine.

Taking inspiration from ancient Greek mythology alongside the future-facing world of sci-fi, the avatar was created by Moudaber in partnership with Mexico City-based digital media studio Cinetica. Brooklyn’s interactive design and experiential studio Volvox Labs curated its movie-like storyline bringing her universe to life.

Shared Brooklyn Paper in their coverage of the night, “With motion capture, the visual studio turned an image of the performer into an avatar inspired by sci-fi and the legend of Medusa, the Greek mythological figure of a winged female creature with snakes as hair who could turn her enemies into stone. The larger-than-life avatar, projected onto the walls of the ArtsDistrict, emulated Moudaber’s own movements to depict a super-human known as an unstoppable female force.”
