London-based producer Dakkota announces the release of his debut single – a pumping, electronic-infused nod to community, love and acceptance.

The electronic artist drops an inspiring, cinematic debut track titled ‘Machine Men’, alongside fellow producer DreadØ, the two collaborating in epic style on an atmospheric journey through the depths of deep house, electronica and ambient soundscapes. “The world is pretty f**ked up at the moment and we need some escapism,” he says. “I want this track to stir you and to get you completely lost in the moment of this track.”

A new artist in the world of electronic music production, Dakkota began DJing before fusing his passion for music and melody with the platform of cinema. The British producer is set on creating music moods that exude atmosphere, making for a truly immersive listening experience. “It’s something to stir you, a touch of melancholy and emotion. I am keen to find pieces of cinema that are powerful and pop it all into a melting pot”.

‘Machine Men’ does not dissent from this philosophy; it opens with beautiful orchestral chords, like a score to a great movie, before moving into gentle hushed-tone percussion. Charlie Chaplin’s rousing speech in 1940s film The Great Dictator is sampled in full effect, ringing out as heavy 808s and pumping synth sounds transform the track into something powerful and pumping. Scratchy electronic textures overlay the whole thing, and its driving sub tones can be felt throughout.

The track certainly boasts both ‘intelligent’ home listening ability and an unmistakable dance music energy. Despite his infancy in the scene, Dakkota seems to reserve the orchestral prowess of Hanz Zimmer, and creative innovation of early Public Service Broadcasting. ‘Machine Men’ wasn’t all his own ingenuity though – the Brit teamed up with accomplished producer DreadØ during the creative process:

“I am collaborating with long-term friend, DreadØ on this track. I think we’ve created cinematic beauty delivering a very relevant message. It’s a little reminder of how perhaps we can all be a bit kinder to each other – a message we all need to take stock of from time to time. I don't want to be preachy, I'll leave Charlie Chaplin to do that…”

Dakkota seems to be enjoying making music that is deep, emotional and cinematic – a mood which he is well-versed in creating, and an exciting sign of things to come. The talented London producer reflects on the experiences that have helped shape his life, and in turn his music: “I've been lucky enough to live and work in some wonderful places – notably Russia, Japan and Kazakhstan,” he says. “Of course, now I've had the chance to liaise with the Chaplin family which has been kind of cool and surreal at the same time.”

Dakkota’s debut track ‘Machine Men’ is out now on all major platforms.
