Capital is celebrating 11 years of the UK’s biggest summer party, The Summertime Ball, with a special live show to be broadcast on multi platforms simultaneously, worldwide.

On Saturday May 16th at 5pm UK time (9am PST, Noon EST) Capital will bring together a 2 hour epic celebration of the best of Capital’s Summertime Ball with a very special show.

Hosted live by Capital Breakfast’s Roman Kemp, Sian Welby and Sonny Jay, The Best of Capital’s Summertime Ball with Barclaycard will feature the most iconic moments and biggest performances – hand-picked by Capital, as well as new and exclusive interviews about the show with some of the artists that have graced the stage of the Summertime Ball over the last 11 epic years.

The live show will simultaneously air on Capital, Global Player, Sky One and YouTube.

For the past 11 years, 80,000 Capital listeners have filled Wembley Stadium each June for the UK’s biggest summer party, but with the show unable to go ahead in 2020, fans can party at home instead, reliving 11 years of legendary performances from their favourite artists, all contextualised and presented in a live show with Capital Breakfast’s Roman, Sian and Sonny.

The show will be sponsored by Barclaycard as part of a new three-year partnership with Global which includes Barclaycard’s headline sponsorship of Capital Summertime Ball and Jingle Bell Ball for the future.

Highlights will include listener favourites One Direction opening the Ball in spectacular style in 2015, Justin Bieber’s 2012 performance and Katy Perry’s spectacular closing set from the same year. Fans can relive Stormzy’s high energy Capital’s Summertime Ball debut in 2017 and witness 80,000 people doing ‘Gangnam Style’ along with Psy in 2013. Plus there will be epic DJ sets from the likes of Calvin Harris and David Guetta, an iconic performance from the queens of Capital’s Summertime Ball, Little Mix, highlights from Camila Cabello’s opening set and Shawn Mendes’ closing set in 2018, and appearances from stars including Ariana Grande, Jonas Brothers, Ed Sheeran, Jess Glynne, Tinie, Bruno Mars, Pharrell Williams, Coldplay and loads more… Capital’s Jimmy Hill will also host a round-up of some of the best backstage highlights.
